A Statement by the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey on Chris Christie’s Selection of Kim Guadagno for Lieutenant Governor:
Monmouth County Sheriff Kim Guadagno as his running mate.
As only the fifth woman to run for statewide office in New Jersey, the choice of Sheriff Guadagno by the Christie Campaign levels the playing field in New Jersey politics. We became acquainted with Kim

New Jersey is fortunate in that it has an abundance of riches in female candidates capable of serving in high-level positions. In each party, impressive and experienced women from around the state
were among those mentioned as real contenders for lieutenant governor. We know just from the recent speculation, that several highly-qualified women can be serious candidates, and in fact,
frontrunners.
Women make a critical difference in politics and in governing…and that’s a good thing. Experience has shown that when women get involved, it accrues to the benefit of not only other women, but for
government and all the citizens of New Jersey.”
